Please find attached an invitation to attend a briefing on “A Review of Sport, Leisure and Recreation Provision in Moray”.

Dear Club Secretary,

I know that you have heard this from me many times in the past but I will say it again, curling is in serious danger of ending at Moray Leisure Centre with effect from 31st December 2014 because the refrigeration gasses used in the aging ice plant will no longer be legal; after that date the ice rink will close unless the plant is replaced.  Many of you will have seen the article in today’s Press and Journal which highlights the sums required to replace the equipment and keep the ice rink operational. In order to influence Moray Council over any decision about funding replacement equipment in these financially difficult times it is imperative that a strong case is made emphasising that the loss of the ice rink would affect age groups right across the board and is far too valuable an asset to lose. The most effective way of making that case is to have representatives from every curling club in Moray attend one of the venues to demonstrate the strength of feeling for keeping the ice rink open.

Please take the trouble to motivate your members and nominate a representative to apply to attend a meeting near you so that the Moray Council can be left in no doubt about the strength of feeling among the curling community to keep the ice rink open.

Please note that nominations have to be registered by Tuesday the 3rd December so don’t delay and help to make your contribution towards ensuring the future of curling in Moray.

With best wishes,

Mike Pickthall Province Secretary
