Following the inaugural meeting of the newly formed, independently chaired Moray Ice Rink Collaborative Forum, representatives from local ice sports clubs, members of the community, and the Board of Moray Leisure Centre met this evening to begin a unified effort to secure the future of ice-based sport in Moray.Chaired by Dave Allen, Ruth Cochrane, Sarah Medcraf, and Nicky Grant, the forum brings together a diverse and committed group of stakeholders focused on both immediate and long-term solutions for the rink.At the first meeting, the forum agreed on the following initial actions:Identify immediate solutions to enable the reopening of the ice rink by 5 October 2025.Recommend a sustainable operational and financial plan for the Ice Rink to the Moray Leisure Board through April 2026 and beyond Propose long-term strategies to ensure a viable, vibrant future for ice-based sports at Moray Leisure Centre.The forum will work collaboratively to develop a set of recommendations aligned to a series of key themes, which are saving and efficiency, income and service redesign.Ongoing updates from the forum will be shared via attending club representatives to ensure transparency and continued community involvement.Chair of the Forum, Dave Allen, commented:”Tonight’s meeting marked a positive and constructive start to what we all hope will be a new era for ice sports in Moray.
