The Moray Province East League campaign resumed after the October break and in Division 2 ,a much tighter game than the final score would suggest, saw victory for Fochabers’ Abby Duncan over a Ballindalloch rink skipped by the studious Cameron Clarke. Giving up a 4 in the first, the Ballindalloch boys fought back steadily to 5-5 after the fifth end, then a superbly subtle angled double take out from skip Duncan put the Fochabers four 2 up into the last end. The Speysiders were looking very good, until  Duncan again applied the pressure, and, with his last stone swinging across the line,Clarke unluckily promoted the opposition who picked up an unlikely 3 to an audible sigh of relief from Duncan’s boys.

A full Division 3 programme resulted in big wins for the Moray Juniors and Howard Anstruther and a tighter win for the Aberlour rink of Willie Cameron.
Jamie Rankin’s Juniors team were unstoppable in their straight sets victory over a lacklustre Tennis Club rink, who only had a single shot to show for  their efforts in an 11-1 defeat.

In the Forres derby, Howard Anstruther was 4 up after 2 ends, but Charlie Watt jnr’s rink fought back to tie the score in the third. Unfortunately, this was to be Charlie’s only count ,as Howard ran away to an 11-4 win.

Bob Stewart was always behind against Willie Cameron’s Aberlour rink, with the deadly accurate Jim Gault and Olympian Gregor Ewan at the business end. 4 shots over the last 2 ends, still not enough for the Elgin team in an 8-6 loss.

In Division 4’s only fixture, the battle of the Elgin rinks was narrowly won by Jim Farquhar, the teams trading 3’s over the final two ends ,for Jim to just pip Helen Downey.
Once again, all the games were played on lovely keen and swinging ice, a treat to play on and a true test of the Curlers.
