On Thursday 15th January a Ballindalloch team, skipped by Gordie Kennedy, traveled to Inverness to play an Aberlour rink skipped by Andy Cameron in the semi-final of the Moray Province Knock-out.
The game was keenly contested, with some good shot making from both teams. Ballindalloch led 4-3 going into the 4th end, with two stones to come in the end, Aberlour, with hammer, lay shot in the four foot and guarded, with his last shot of the end Gordie elected to play a hit and roll off his own stone lying in the 8ft circle, he played it perfectly, coming to the face of the Aberlour stone on the 4ft circle to lye shot. Andy then had a difficult draw around a guard for his one which came up slightly short. Ballindalloch led 5-3. This was the game changing end and Ballindalloch eventually ran out 7-4 winners.
In the other Semi-final, Ali Asher’s Nairn rink took on Wilson Burnett’s Fochabers rink in a close contest. 6-6 after eight ends, it went down to a draw shot challenge. Ali Asher drew the button, Wilson was unable to match the shot.
So it will be Gordie Kennedy vs Ali Asher in the KO final on Tuesday 27th January at the Moray Leisure Centre.
