There was a full programme of games in the Moray Province East Leagues over the past fortnight.
In Division 1, Neil Durno piled more misery on Neil Mustard’s Darnaway team with a hefty 12-1 victory. Neil’s solitary 4th end single was followed in the 5th by a mortal blow as the Fochabers outfit picked up a huge 6 shot to leave the Darnaway lads still pointless at the bottom of the league.
Alan Campbell was always ahead against Andy Cameron, racing to a comfortable 5-0 score after 3 ends and consolidating victory with a 2 at the last end to retain his joint lead in the top division.

Division 2 saw 3 convincing wins.Howard Anstruther’s Forres team took a 2 at the first end, then couldn’t get back in the groove as Ryan Mackenzie and co won the next 5 ends. A 3 at the last saved some of Howard’s blushes in a 10-5 loss.
Abby Duncan’s rink were 5-1 up after 3 ends against Mike Macdonald, but then could do nothing right, as the Forres four won the next 5 ends to run out 11-5 victors.
On big swinging ice, Bill Jaffrey’s Fochabers team skipped by Wilson Burnett, got the hang of conditions in their game against the Tennis Club lads skipped by Chris Whelan whose 3 shots at the 3rd end was their solitary return. The Fochabers outfit are now clear at the top of the division.

The third Division saw big wins for Brian Cantlay’s  Rotarian’s and Eddie Milne’s Darnaway team, over Bob Stewart and Molly Keen respectively.
Ronald Christie and Charlie Watt had a much tighter contest, a 4 at the seventh end proving decisive for the Fochabers rink.

In Division 4 it was ” no change ” as far as League positions were concerned, both games finishing in exciting 5-5 peels.
Jamie Rankin’s Juniors were 5-3 down, but single shots at each of the last 2 ends gave the plucky Juniors a valuable draw against the very experienced Alastair Maltman. Mike McKenzie managed his peel with a 3 shot pickup at the last end.

A tight 1 shot win and a 1 shot loss was Andrew Allardyce’s return from his 2 played games. Andrew McIntyre and the Juniors were the worthy 1 shot winners , while Allardyce just pipped Sandra Maciver’s Mary Firth Ladies.
In the other Division 5 match, Georgia Clarke’s junior team had a wonderful win against Sandra McIver. Georgia winning 5 ends in a convincing 8-2 win.

The Open Knockout reached the semi final stage as Dean Clark and his Nairn rink were never behind against Kenny Oswald, and in the Ladies Knockout there were 2 tight games,Sandra McIver just getting the better of Gil Valentine and Ann Munro edging out Greta More.
